Terre Haute teen dies after ATV accident

Terre Haute News, Terre Haute, Indiana- TribStar.com – Terre Haute teen dies after ATV accident

One of the teens involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident last week died on Tuesday.

Travis Landes, 17, of Terre Haute was riding as a passenger on Daymond Langley’s Yamaha Raptor ATV around 8 p.m. Sept. 20 when Langley realized the brakes were out, according to a police report.

The two were traveling east on Spring Clean Street toward the 25th Street intersection and crashed into a barbed wire fence to avoid hitting an incoming vehicle, the report stated.

They continued east on 25th Street until they hit a large railroad car head-on, causing both of the boys to be thrown from the vehicle.

Landes was on the ground unresponsive with severe head injuries and other injuries.

He was not wearing a helmet.
