Boys in fair condition after ATV accident

Two boys hurt when their mini ATV was hit by a truck remained hospitalized Saturday in fair condition.

The collision happened at about 1:15 p.m. Friday at 22nd North and Park Place, police said. The boys, ages 9 and 10, were traveling south on an ATV barely bigger than a tricycle. They were trying to keep up with another ATV in front of them, the older boy’s mother said. Neither boy was wearing a helmet.

They followed the first ATV through the intersection without stopping. The driver of the truck, who was heading east on 22nd, did not have time to stop before he hit the boys, police said. He will not be ticketed.
