El Nino Expected to Return for Winter 2009-2010 – About.com

As we reach the end of summer the NOAA announced the return of El Nino for the winter of 2009-2010.

This climate activity happens every few years and lasts for about a year. It happens as Pacific ocean temperatures increase which tends to force rainy weather down from the north closer to the equator.
